Thanks to the owner, Brenda Slapnicka of Rancho Tonto Catch-A-Trout, for her wonderful hospitality, and Deb Phelan who often helps out the owner. TIA students and parents enjoyed fishing and cooking together on their beautiful forest grounds. We would also like to thank our Nutrition & Wellness module leader, Debbie Romano, and her husband, Al Romano, of Fountain Hills Healthy Heartbeats, and all the TIA families and students who attended. It was a nice day together exploring the fish hatchery and learning more about the various trout and other fish that are native to Arizona. Picking and eating wild blackberries and wild grapes was a favorite activity. Afterwards, TIA students and their parents enjoyed a hike along a secluded creek that leads to a lesser-known swimming hole and falls.

Again, we would like to thank everyone for coming together in the spirit of our growing TIA family. Educational opportunities are all around us. It is not just something that happens in a classroom.
